Topic Homework

This week we will be learning about Pythagoras, one of the first Greek mathematical thinkers. His famous Pythagorean Theorem  (Pythagoras theorem) found out something amazing to do with right angled triangles. Can you find out what it was? Write it on the blog!

  1. Pythagoras lived in the 500 BC, and was one of the first Greek mathematical thinkers. He spent most of his life in the Greek colonies in southern Italy and doing math. They only wore simple clothings and went barefoot. Pythagoreans were interested in philosophy, but especially in music and mathematics, two ways of making order out of chaos. Music is noise that makes sense, and mathematics is rules for how the world works. Music is noise that makes sense, and mathematics is rules for how the world works. Theorem was true.

  4. The Pythagorean theorem takes its name from the ancient Greek mathematician Pythagoras (569 B.C.?-500 B.C.?), who was perhaps the first to offer a proof of the theorem. But people had noticed the special relationship between the sides of a right triangle long before Pythagoras.

Pythagoras is famous today because theorem in geometry. Pythagoras is often described as the first pure mathematician.Pythagoras himself is best known for proving that the Pythagorean Theorem was true.

  6. Pythagoras was born on 500BC and was a mathematical thinker. Over 2000 years ago there was an amazing discovery about triangles. The discovery which was
    when the triangle has a right angle which is 90° and squares are made on each of the
    three sides, then the biggest square has the same area as the other two squares put together. There was a equation which went with this which was a2 + b2 = c2. C2 is the longest side of the triangle and a2 and b2 are the other two sides. Pythagoras died in 495 BC, Metapontum, Italy.

  7. Over 2000 years ago Pythagoras made an amazing discovery to do with right angled triangles. He made a formula: a squared + b squared = c squared.
    This formula is useful because if we know the lengths of 2 sides of a right angled triangle, we can find the length of the third side.
    He noticed that he could make squares along each side of the triangle.

Pythagoras theorm states that for all right angled triangles the square on the hypotenuse (which is the longest side and it is always opposite the right angle) is equal to the sum of squares on the other two sides. So for any right angled triangle the square on the hypotenuse is equal to the sum of squares on the other two sides.

    The rules are a2(squared) = b2(squared)+c2 (squared) so if the lengths of the triangle is 13cm 5cm 12cm and 13cm = a 5cm=b 12cm = c you would have to do 13x13=169= 5x5 =25 + 12x12=144 144 +25=169 and 13x 13= 169 so it is a right angle ,but if a2 was bigger than c2 + b2 than the angle would be obtuse, however if c2+b2 is bigger than a2 than the angle would be acute.

  10. Pythagoras was born on 571BC and died on 495BC. He is often described as the first pure mathematician. This is because of his discovery of right angled triangle. This is called the Pythagoras Theorem and as a short equation it can be written as a2+b2=c2. C is the longest part of the triangle and a and b are the other two sides. The c square is the same square as a and b put together.

When a triangle is at 90 degrees and squares are made on each three sides, then the biggest square has the exact same area as the other squares put together. This is called Pythagoras Theorem and can be written in the equation: A2+B2=C2. He found out this great equation and it is an amazing thing he discovered.

    Over 200 years ago there lived a man named Pythagoras whom was a worshiped mathematician. He had many followers much like Jesus's disciples. They called themselves the Pythagoreans. As a Pythagorean, you were expected to have long hair, wear simple clothes, walk bare footed and be selfless. One of Pythagoras's most known theory today is that: a2(a squared)+b2=c2.

  13. Over 100 Years ago there was an amazing discovery on Triangles, all about Right angles. It is called "Pythagoras Theorem" and can be written in one short equation: A2+B2=C2.The longest side of the triangle is called the "hypotenuse", so the formal definition is In a right angled triangle:

    the sum of the squares of the other two sides.
