  1. Amazingly, since the 2nd century, London's population was over 100,000 people. However, one-fifth of their population was lost due to the great plague. Around the same time, London was almost destroyed because of the great fire in 1666, it took over ten years to rebuild everything damaged. Also, the River Thames, is one of the inner bodies of water in London.

    London, has many famous landmarks:
    Tower of London- The amazing crown jewels are held in the Tower of London.

    London Eye- It's construction started in 1998 and was opened in March 9 2000. The height is 135 meters.

    Buckingham Palace- Was opened in 1703. Interestingly, the Palace has 5 floors.

    Highest point in London- The Shard
    Lowest point in London- The London underground

  3. London landmarks
    For over 900 years, the Tower of London has been standing guard over the capital. The Tower of London was originally built by William the Conqueror, following his successful invasion of England in 1066. Annoyingly,the tower of London was built for fortress, prison, place of execution, arsenal, Royal Mint, Royal Zoo and jewel houses. The Tower of London is perhaps better known as a prison.
    Tower Bridge has stood over the River Thames in London since 1894 and is one of the finest, most recognisable bridges in the World. It is the London bridge you tend to see in movies and on advertising literature for London.
    The London Eye stands on the South bank of the River Thames in London, between Westminster and Hungerford Bridges. It is the world's highest observation wheelThe total weight of steel in the Eye is 1,700 tonnes.

  4. London geography

    London is located on the river Thames in the south east region of London.

    Size = 1572 km sq

    Population = 8,615,246

    Climate = The climate of London is broadly similar to the rest of the UK, with cool summers, mild winters, no wet or dry season, and often moderate to strong winds. It is classed as a temperate maritime climate according to the Köppen climate classification system.

    Highest point = Westerham Heights in London borough of Bromley (245m/804ft)

    Lowest point = Based on the Ordnance Survey Terrain data (from their Open Data) the lowest area of land is alongside the River Thames in East London (around Erith Marshes) near Thamesmead.

    Major bodies of water = serpentine, Walbrook river, river Thames
    Important landmarks = tower of London, London eye, Buckingham palace, British museum, Hampton court palace, Trafalgar square.

    Terrain = London lies within the London basin. The centre of the basin is dominated by the modern valley of the River Thames. London is pretty flat in the centre but when you go out of centre it becomes hillier. There are a few notable hills in Greater London, but none of them more than a few hundred feet high.

  5. London, England’s capital, set on the River Thames, is a 21st-century city with history stretching back to Roman times. At its centre stand the imposing Houses of Parliament, the iconic ‘Big Ben’ clock tower and Westminster Abbey, site of British monarch coronations. Across the Thames, the London Eye observation wheel The people of Oslo, Norway present the Trafalgar Square Christmas tree each year in gratitude to the people of London for their assistance during World War 2.provides panoramic views of the South Bank cultural complex, and the entire city.
